Working extensively in London and Oxfordshire, experienced RICS chartered building surveyor Stephen Howes (BSc MRICS) provides full building surveys and Homebuyer Reports for property owners and purchasers.

A RICS Home Survey will highlight any issues that you need to be aware of before you undertake the process of buying or selling a property. You'll find all our reports are jargon-free, comprehensive, and include a full photographic record of defects discovered during the building survey. You'll also receive a detailed summary of relevant findings.

Stephen does not sub-contract surveys to less qualified or inexperienced staff, but will carry out your survey personally. With over 30 years’ experience working with properties in London and throughout the South East, and 20 years’ experience supervising the repair of period buildings, he has an extensive knowledge of the theory of building construction. He is well qualified to diagnose a property's defects and help you to understand the implications.

Our Do's

  • We allow sufficient time to carry out the building survey or RICS Homebuyer report without rushing, and in a professional manner.
  • With 30 years experience, Stephen will personally carry out the survey of the property himself.
  • We do carry out just one survey a day, which allows enough time for a comprehensive inspection of the property.
  • We do use clear and easily understood language which analyses a property's defects, explains what may have caused them and possible remedies to put them right.
  • We do aim to get the report to you within 3 working days of the inspection.

Our Don'ts

  • We do NOT employ young, barely qualified surveyors with little experience.
  • Many companies won't tell you the name of the surveyor who will be doing your survey - you'll just have the name of the firm. We don't think that's right; Stephen Howes' reputation and experience are fully disclosed.
  • We don't put company profits before customer service. Our reports are substantial and genuinely helpful. 
  • We do not use phrases such as ‘The chimney stack brickwork is in good condition but you should obtain a builders estimate for possible repairs not yet fully apparent.’
  • We do not take 5/7 days to produce the report.
